Retail, Industrial development PME MTL Centre-Ouest 23 October 2025
Once again this year, PME MTL Centre-Ouest honored local businesses that are making a concrete commitment to reducing their environmental footprint through the Je relève le défi vert (I accept the green challenge) contest.
The 2025 edition generated considerable enthusiasm:
- 24 businesses registered,
- 17 of which completed the program, receiving support throughout the process.
- In total, 264 store visits were made by teams from Ville en Vert (Ahuntsic-Cartierville), VertCité (Saint-Laurent), and the Town of Mount Royal,
- and more than 60 sustainable actions were implemented.
The jury's favorite award: Iso-Protek
Iso-Protek wins the People's Choice Award and a $5,000 grant for the strength and creativity of its environmental initiatives. The company stands out for its structured and sustainable approach, but above all for its creativity in reusing emblems of the city of Montreal.
Category Retail: Le Troc Stop
Le Troc Stop wins first prize in the “retail” category ($3,000).
The company stood out for its implementation of La Vague, an ambitious initiative that mobilizes the community around responsible consumption and waste reduction. Through its varied actions and ability to bring customers together, Le Troc Stop has created a ripple effect that extends far beyond its business.
A special mention and a grant were also awarded to ElectroXpress, whose solutions for reusing household appliances meet a real need and challenge. Its concrete and measurable environmental impact makes ElectroXpress a key player in the fight against electronic waste.
Restaurant category: Chef Mak
Chef Mak wins first prize in the “restaurant” category ($3,000) thanks to his bold and exemplary approach. The company has chosen to invest in reusable containers for the delivery of prepared meals.
Three special mentions and grants also highlight the diversity and mobilization of the sector:
- L’Auberge du Dragon Rouge is a company that always goes the extra mile. It is recognized for its exemplary behavior through its numerous green initiatives and the addition of its responsible sourcing charter.
- L’Estaminet, recognized for its integration into the local ecosystem and the diversity of its actions.
- Fine-Bouche, for its concrete measures to reduce environmental impact and its awareness-raising efforts.
Manufacturing category: Trolet
The “manufacturing” award ($3,000) goes to Trolet, a company that is innovating in a sector that is still relatively unexplored. Its innovative initiatives and awareness-raising efforts demonstrate that it is possible to have a positive impact.
Two special mentions and grants complete this category:
- La Fabrique Allwood, for its ingenious reuse of ash wood cut in Montreal, the reuse of its scraps, and its constant efforts to promote sustainable development.
- Studio Solution, whose reduction of waste in an environment with a high environmental impact is particularly remarkable.
Growing mobilization
The Je relève le défi vert competition once again demonstrates the willingness of local businesses to take concrete action for ecological transition. Beyond the winners, many initiatives deserve to be commended: innovation, collaboration, and local roots were all on display.
PME MTL Centre-Ouest warmly congratulates all participants for their commitment and creativity.
Partners
The competition was made possible thanks to the support of Desjardins (Caisses du Centre-nord de Montréal and Bordeaux - Cartierville - Saint-Laurent) and the collaboration of Ville en Vert, VertCité, the boroughs of Ahuntsic-Cartierville and Saint-Laurent, the Town of Mount Royal, Synergie Montréal, and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Saint-Laurent - Mont-Royal.
